India has been named one of the top spam senders in the world
India has been named the largest source of spam messages in the world for the third quarter of 2011. According to Kaspersky Lab's spam report, more than 50 per cent of all spam messages came from only six countries, with India topping the list at 14.8 per cent of such messages. Indonesia was on the second spot at 10.6 per cent, while Brazil remained at the third position 9.65 per cent. Peru (6.65 per cent), South Korea (5.85 per cent) and Ukraine (3.7 per cent) also made to the top six list. The report alsosaysthat the top 10 sources of spam messages were situated in South America, Asia and Eastern Europe. "This is due to the fact that there are numerous users in these countries and they are, for the most part, not very experienced when it comes to IT security. This makes them a soft target for cyber criminals spreading spam-bots," the report points out.

Samsung plans more . . . . . . . . .
The company projects that it will move 374 million cellphones next year, 49 million more than its projections for 2011.The report says that 150 million of those 374 million handsets will be smartphones. Unfortunately, since Samsung no longer reports actual numbers of devices shipped each quarter, it will be very difficult to tell how many smartphones and cellphones it does actually sell in 2012. Analysts determined that Samsung edged out Apple to become the number one smartphone maker in the world in the third quarter of this year, but many expect Apple to reclaim its title in the fourth quarter.

Renault displays its new pulse hatchback at the auto expo
Renault will bring a number of versions of its Pulse hatchback at the Expo. The French manufacturer is aware that the Pulse is nothing but a rebadged Nissan Micra, and the various display cars will help to give it a more youthful image. The one to watch out for will be the Duster. Making its Indian debut at the Expo, this mini-SUV is expected to be launched by July, so take a close look at it. The Duster shares its platform with the Logan (now Mahindra Verito) so expect it to be rugged. But it’s not an all-out off-roader and will be available in India in two-wheel-drive only. It will be powered by three engines – a 1.6-litre 105bhp petrol and two 1.5 diesels making 90bhp and a more substantial 107bhp respectively. The big news is that it will be very aggressively priced from Rs 7-8 lakh approximately.

Don 2 has collected Rs 48 crores in its opening weekend. However the PR mechanism is trying to devise new tags just to showoff that the film is breaking new records.
The year 2011 has come to an end with Shah Rukh Khan's Don 2, amongst the most anticipated releases of the year. One cannot exactly say that Bollywood in 2011 had 'saved the best for last' with the extreme response that the film has received. Audience response varies from awesome to awful for the film.
Nevertheless the buzz around the film was huge and the SRK flick opened to very good collections. The film collected around Rs 48 crores over its opening weekend. Dubbed versions in Tamil and Telugu helped the film do business in South territories as well. However with diverse response to the film, the same cannot be said about the film's business in coming days and it's uncertain whether the film will enjoy a decent run in its second week, despite no good opposition.
An interesting thing to notice (taking Don 2 as a study example) is that with every new film, the PR mechanism tries to devise new tags to illustrate the film breaking new records, (esp. when the film fails to break any real records). So Don 2 wins the tag for the 'highest first day collection on a non-holiday Friday'. Or sample this 'Don 2 broke the record of Bodyguard in Australia for the highest first day gross ever for a Hindi film (US$ 82,000) while Bodyguard managed (US$ 74,000)'.
If nothing else works, it can take credit of outdoing the business of Shah Rukh's earlier films. As per official figures revealed 'Middle East has grossed ($ 930,000 on Thu & Fri which is higher than the first two days of Ra.One (US$ 710,000) and My Name is Khan (US$ 750,000)'. 'In US, the opening day gross of Don 2 (US $ 445000) is higher than that of My Name is Khan and also higher than the sum of the first three days of Ra.One!'

NO STAY ON DON 2
Don 2 The king is backRitesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar and Shah Rukh Khan have heaved a sigh of relief following the High Court decision to deny the stay on ‘Don2’. The suit, filed by Nariman Films and the Irani family (the makers of original 1978 film 'Don'), starring Amitabh Bachchan, had alleged that the new 'Don 2' had violated the copyrights by adopting the ‘Don's signature tune, songs of the original 'Don' and also copying its script, characters and music without any prior intimation. Besides, it was also alleged that the rights of the said script were given only for the remake and not for the sequel. However, Justice S. F. Vajifdar of the Bombay High Court denied the stay on the release of the film, citing the absence of theatre owners at the hearing and also taking into consideration the release dates of the film (December 21 overseas and December 23 in India), for which advance booking is already underway.

YOUTUBE WITH A BRAND NEW LOOK
The Internet's most popular video site -- and the second most popular site, period, according to owner Google -- has finally gotten an image overhaul. YouTube unveiled its new look, which features gray navigation bars, on Thursday. YouTube announced the renovation on its blog : "So, today we're introducing a new homepage, Channel design and a fresh coat of digital paint." The new design makes YouTube's website much easier to navigate -- not that that's really saying much. YouTube's old site design was basically videos in a grid on a plain, white background -- there wasn't a lot of order. While users could navigate by clicking light gray buttons at the top of the page to see recent activity, subscriptions, and recommendations, the homepage was mostly an overwhelming jumble of images and text. Now, YouTube has a dark gray sidebar on the left side of the page, where users can see their subscribed channels. Clicking on a link on the left side of the page (there's also "Trending" and "Popular Channels" links, in addition to users' subscribed channels) changes the content in the center column, where videos appear in a list rather than a grid. There's also a right- hand sidebar with " Recommended" videos.

MAXX Mobiles has become the latest entrant in the market with its first ever touch screen phone with a built-in projector, Focus MTP9 . Sporting a 2.8 " touch screen with a 5 MP camera, this dual-SIM phone features a projector lens at the top with an adjustable focus ring at the back.  It claims to be capable of projecting on a 42 screen for 3 hours. The good and very important thing is that the company is bundling a free stand to mount the phone while it is projecting your movie. The phone is powered by a 208 MHz processor and the King Movie Player, which claims to compress the video to a tenth of its actual size without compromising on quality. You can store additional movies on the free 4 GB microSD card bundled along. It also supports the MP4 and 3GPP formats. In addition to the above, this Java- enabled phone can use the multitude of J2ME apps available on the web to improve its functionality and usability. GOOGLES NEW BROWSER STARTS WITH A BANG
Google's new browser has really started with a bang. It has managed to capture over 1% of the market share in just 10 hours of its launch, writes TG Daily . The hourly tracking of Chrome on Market Share has revealed that Chrome passed 0.5 % in just 2 hours. By midnight (EDT) it had surpassed 1% of the market share. By next day 4 a.m., it actually hit 1.48 % share, after which it continued at 1% for the rest of the day. Capturing 1% of the market share hasn't really come as a surprise, considering the leadership position that Google enjoys in the consumer Internet space, plus the attention the browser received in the past two days. However, we cannot ignore the fact that 1% share is a huge piece of the pie, but only time will tell if Chrome will be able to maintain the same growth rate as the novelty wears off.
